Is it really a one-time purchase?
Yes. Download free and use every feature with up to 5 documents, plus 5 IDs or passports. One in-app purchase removes both limits forever, including future updates. Nothing renews.
I bought it on another device. How do I get it back?
Open Settings in the app and tap Restore Purchase. Use the same Apple Account you bought it with. Family Sharing members get it too.
Where are my documents stored? Can I move them to a new phone?
Only on your device, inside the app. They're included in your iPhone or iPad backup, so restoring a backup (iCloud or computer) to a new device brings them back. To keep copies elsewhere, export them as PDF to the Files app.
If I delete the app, are my documents gone?
Yes, unless you have a backup or exported copies. There's no cloud copy, which is exactly what keeps them private.
Why can't I find the text in a scan?
Text recognition runs on your device right after scanning. Large documents can take a moment ("Reading text" appears while it works). For the best results, scan in good light with the page flat. You can run recognition again from a document's Text screen.
How do I make a searchable PDF?
Open a document, tap Share, choose PDF and keep Searchable text on. You can also add a password there.
The camera doesn't open.
The app may not have camera permission. Go to iOS Settings › OwnScan › Camera and turn it on. You can also import photos or PDFs with the import button.
A PDF won't import.
Password-protected PDFs can't be imported. Open the PDF in another app, remove the password, and try again.
What does the warning on a QR code link mean?
The app checks links before you open them. It warns you about unencrypted links, raw IP addresses, look-alike domains, "@" tricks and link shorteners, all common in fake QR stickers. If you don't recognize the website name shown, don't open it.
Does the app work offline?
Yes, everything works offline. The only thing that needs the internet is buying or restoring the unlock through the App Store.
