// manifesto
Own your software.
Somewhere along the way, software stopped being something you own. We think that's a mistake, and we're building the alternative.
Buy it once. Own it for good.
Paying every month for a tool you've already paid for many times over isn't a law of nature. It's a business model. When you buy a Cleanware app, it's yours: no renewal, no expiry date, no kill switch.
A tool, not a tenancy.
A scanner, a PDF editor or a sleep-sounds app is a tool. Subscriptions make sense for services that cost money to run every month. Our apps run on your device, not on our servers, so there's nothing to rent.
It keeps working, year after year.
New OS versions ship every year. We keep updating the apps so they keep working, and those updates are free. Your files stay in standard formats you can export anytime.
Honest upgrades.
If we build a major new feature, that version may be a paid upgrade, and we'll say so plainly. It's always optional, and the version you own keeps working.
No server, no breach.
We can't leak, sell or lose data we never receive. There's no account database, no analytics pipeline and no copy of your files on our side, because none of it exists.
Try everything first.
Every app is free to try with every feature unlocked, up to a limit. You see exactly what you're buying before you pay.
This is just the beginning.
We're starting with everyday apps. Next come professional tools and software for industries, built the same way. Wherever software is rented, there's room for software you own.

The updates promise
Buying once doesn't mean buying something that stops working. Years pass, new OS versions ship, and we keep updating the apps so they keep working.
| release | what changes | price |
|---|---|---|
| v1.0.1 | Compatibility with each new OS version | Free |
| v1.0.2 | Bug fixes and security patches | Free |
| v1.1 | Polish and small improvements | Free |
| v2.0 | A major new feature | May be paid |
The honest fine print: if we add a major new feature, that version may be a paid upgrade. It's always optional, and the version you already own keeps working.
